EVCapital 2027 welcomes Director of CEVC to Clare

Clare’s preparations for its year as European Volunteering Capital 2027 received a European perspective today with a visit from Gabriella Civico, Director of the Centre for European Volunteering (CEV).

Gabriella joined the European Volunteering Capital 2027 Steering Group at Clare Volunteer Centre, where she met with representatives involved in coordinating the programme and supporting the development of volunteering across the county.

She has been a leading voice in European volunteering policy for more than a decade, advocating for greater recognition of volunteering and the important contribution of civil society to communities and policymaking across Europe.

Her visit provided an opportunity to discuss Clare’s preparations for 2027, share perspectives on the development of volunteering at local and European level, and explore how the European Volunteering Capital title can help strengthen the volunteering landscape across the county.

Established by the Centre for European Volunteering in 2013, the European Volunteering Capital initiative recognises municipalities that demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting volunteering through local policies, community participation and partnerships with civil society organisations.

Clare was awarded the title of European Volunteering Capital 2027 in recognition of its commitment to volunteering and the contribution made by volunteers and community organisations throughout the county.

The year-long programme will provide an opportunity to celebrate Clare’s volunteering community, highlight the work of volunteers and organisations, and encourage greater participation in volunteering.
